New Support Group In Petersburg To Help Amputee Patients Get Their Lives Back

A new support group for amputee patients and their caregivers is coming to the Petersburg area. Sponsored by HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Petersburg, the support group will help those who have endured limb loss engage in conversation and share helpful information with others in similar situations. The group will meet on March 1, June 7, Sept. 6 and Dec. 6. All meetings will be held at the hospital located at 95 Medical Park Blvd. in Petersburg at 5:30 p.m.
The Tri-Cities Amputee Support Group will provide vital benefits that support a healthy life following amputation including:
- Helping the patient and caregiver realize they are not alone
- Creating a network of others with whom the patient can comfortably share successes and concerns
- Sharing treatments ideas and resources
- Discovering tips to make life easier
- Reducing stress and apprehension
The group’s mission is to empower those with limb loss through sharing research, best practices and the latest information in healthcare in a proactive group setting.
