Celebrating National Stroke Awareness
Location: HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Petersburg
95 Medical Park Blvd
Beyond the physical challenges patients may experience with cardiac/pulmonary conditions, amputation or following a stroke, many also experience some form of emotional strain and need additional support. HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Petersburg now offers three support groups providing those who have experienced a cardiac/pulmonary condition, amputation or a stroke and their caregivers a place to relate to other survivors and caregivers.
Stroke Recovery Support Group will meet monthly on the first Monday at 12:30 p.m. beginning March 6 with “Colors of Hope,” a special art therapy activity. Other programs include, “Claughable Moments” with neuropsychologist Melody Mickens, PhD, LCP on April 3 and Celebrating National Stroke Awareness Month on May 1.
Support group meetings are held at the hospital located at 95 Medical Park Blvd. Those interested in attending one of HealthSouth Petersburg’s support groups should call 804-504-8100 and ask to speak to the therapist in charge of the support group of interest, or email email@example.com.
